A House of Cards

Today, AAPR became aware that the writers of the Rebuttal to the Argument for Measure B admit to being not quite accurate in their ballot rebuttal arguments. They claim that they did not know that it was Lehman Brothers that went bankrupt, not SunCal.

This is simply startling given that the signers of both the Arguments Against Measure B and the Rebuttals are all signed by Alameda City leaders – the Mayor, Councilmembers, City Treasurer, City Auditor, and two School Board members. The fact that Lehman Brothers went bankrupt last year is hardly top secret information. And the fact that Lehman Brothers is not the financial partner on Alameda Point is well-known as well. To pin these bankruptcies on SunCal shows either a frightening lack of knowledge or a deliberate effort to misinform voters. It does make one wonder what else was incorrect in the opponent’s rebuttal. More to come...
